Wakefield & District Sunday Football League - Sunday 26th February 2012.
Wakefield Athletic - 1
New Pot Oil Inn - 3
A game of two halves saw Wakefield Athletic collapse to another defeat at the hands of fellow relegation-threatened New Pot Oil Inn in this Division One fixture.
Wakefield had the upper-hand in the first half with the striking trio of Kevin Guy, Ben Baines and Adam Eddison a constant threat and forcing the visitors on the back foot for a sustained spell.
The host broke the deadlock when a flowing move between Michael Townend, Jonny Still and Alistar Hill ended with teenage striker Adam Eddison firing home from 18 yards out for a deserved 1-0 lead before wasting a host of gilt-edged chances which was to prove costly.
On the turn, both Eddison and Andy Black went close to adding to their slender lead before a defensive lapse saw the visitors grab an equaliser against the run of play through striker Craig Lowe.
Before the hosts could recover their composure, New Pot Oil took a 2-1 lead with a deflected goal through Danny Nieoziolka. Wakefield fought back briefly but the visitors retaliated and despite the heroics of keeper Gareth Sharp, a vital strike from Stuart Davis saw the Oilers fight back complete with three vital points.
The "Express" man of the match for Wakefield Express was share bt Gareth Sharp, Andy Black and Kevin Guy.
