Wakefield & District Sunday Football League (Division Three)(LEAGUE CUP)

Wakefield Athletic "B" ---------------------------------- 2
Tingley Bulls ------------------------------------------- 1

Two second-half goals from midfielders Ismael Dibagh and Alex Varley earned lowly Wakefield Athletic "B" a hard earned victory against fellow strugglers Tingley Bulls in this Division Three League Cup tie.

The first period saw both sides control key areas effectively with both set of rearguards in top form.  The isolated clear-cut chance fell to the visitors striker who hit the side-netting with the goalmouth wide open.

Wakefield broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when a surging run and cross from Chris Wood found Ismael who dispatched the ball home from close range.

The home side made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute a flowing move involving Wood, Marc Shaw and Ismael carving out a chance for Alex Varley who found target with a well-placed effort from the edge of the box into the bottom of the net.

Teenage striker Matthew Kidd was put clear by a glancing header from Andy Black but shot narrowly wide - a golden chance to bury the match beyond the visitors went begging.

Tingley pushed forward in numbers and their sustained spell of pressure saw them pull a goal back five minutes from time through a fine header from Dale Ryder but the home side held on to book a quarter-final berth against King George Reserves.

Shaun Stringer and Dale Ryder excelled for Tingley Bulls while the West Yorkshire Sports & Social Clubs man-of-the match award for Wakefield Athletic "B" was shared by Paul Grey, Andy Black and Tom Walton.
