Wakefield Athletics’ third string face a struggle to save their Division Three status after running out of steam against a stylist and experienced King George side.

The home side started well and created a host of chances with Dale Stogden twice hitting the woodwork before the visitors took a slender 1-0 half-time lead.

Wakefield started the stronger on the turn and saw Marc Shaw’s effort crashing volley coming back of the underside of the crossbar. 

King George stepped up the tempo and their quality football proved too much at the end of the ninety minute with a 5-0 victory.

Goal scorers for King George for were Lee Kitchen (2), Lee Watson (2) and Colin Lovell.  The evergreen Jeff Scott was an outstanding performer for the victorious Eastmoor based outfit.

The West Yorkshire Sports & Social Clubs man-of-the match award for Wakefield Athletic “B” was shared by Graham Waite, Henry Tang and Tom Maher.
