Wakefield & District Sunday Football League (Division Three)(CUP)
King George --------------------------------- 5
Wakefield Athletic "B" ------------------------ 1
Wakefield Athletics' third string were dumped out of the Division Three League Cup by a vastly experienced and favourites King George outfit.
The home side played some stylish football in the early stages but it was Wakefield who has the first attempt on goal when striker Prandeep Singh shot straight the keeper following a good build-up play.
King George retaliated and went rampant with a four goal salvo against the visitors rearguard who were pulled all over the park.
Manager Gary Kidd made changes on the turn and the introduction of late comer Craig McKinnon tightened the Wakefield defence and saw them make in-roads to the home goal with both Marc Shaw and Matthew Kidd going close.
The home outfit carved out the fifth goal to calm the nerves and a berth in the semi-final before Matthew Kidd netted a consolation for wakefield in the 80th minute.
The West Yorkshire Sports & Social Clubs man-of-the match for Wakefield Athletic was shared by Andrew Black and Prandeep Singh.
