Wakefield & District Sunday Football League (Division Two)

Nostell MW --------------------------------------------- 6
Wakefield Athletic “A” ----------------------------------- 0

A fine hat-trick from defender Jamie Harbour saw promotion chasing Nostell MW run riot against Wakefield Athletics’ second string in this Division Two game.

Wakefield, who were forced to field teenage striker Adam Deakin in goal, made a positive start and saw Simon Newey go close with a well-directed free-kick before Sam Murphy forces a finger-tip save from the home custodian.

Nostell scored in their very first attack in the 15th minute with a low shot from Jordon Hale before Scott Dooler made it 2-0 two minutes later with a shot from the edge of the box.

The home side stole through Murphy following a long punt from keeper Deakin but failed to cash-in from the chance.  At the other end, a wind-assisted long-range effort from Harbour made it 3-0 at half-time.

Wakefield forced the pace on the turn but another long-range effort from Harbour on the hour made the recovery task for the visitors more difficult.  Further goals from Harbour (header) saw him complete a fine hat-trick and an opportunist goal from Hale for his brace completed the visitors misery.

Stopper Matthew Wilkinson, Jamie ‘Rooney’ Harbour and Scott Jackson were in superb form for victorious Nostell MW while the WYCO man-of-the match award for Wakefield Athletic “A” was shared by Dave Markwell, Matt Fenlon and Tom Pick.
