Wakefield Athletics' second string came from behind to overcome gutsy Wanderers in this Division Two return fixture.
The visitors made a good start but fell behind in the 10th minute when Gary Armstrong latched onto a poor clearance to drill a low shot past the diving keeper for his ninth goal of the season.
Wakefield fought back gradually and saw both Rob Pick and Simon Newey go close before the latter provided the killer pass which saw attacking midfielder Michael Moore break clear before finding the roof of the net with his well-educated right foot on the half hour mark.
On the stroke of half-time, a well-worked short corner between Kevin Guy and Newey saw the latter force a parried save from home keeper Lee Hawksley.
On the turn, Wanderers were denied a certain goal thanks to a recovery last-ditch tackle from full-back Lee Everett on Sean Armstrong before Newey saw an excellent effort hit the home crossbar.
Both Gavin Heppinstall and Oliver Bartholomew forced saves from keeper Hawksley but he could do little to stop Wakefield going into a 2-1 lead thanks to a coolly taken spot-kick goal from skipper Tom Pick.
Eight minutes from time, Newey's reverse pass found Heppinstall who dribbled past a forest of legs before rounding off the keeper and finishing in clinical fashion for a deserved victory.
Keeper Lee Hawksley was in outstanding form for Wanderers while the West Yorkshire Sports & Social Club's man-of-the match award for Wakefield Athletic "A" was shared by Oliver Bartholomew, Michael Moore and Simon Newey.
