Wakefield & District Sunday Football League (Division Two)
Wakefield Athletic 'A'...................................... 0
Bingley Arms ................................................... 2
Wakefield Athletics' second string suffered their first defeat of the season but it needed a last gasp second goal from Bingley Arms to secure maximun points in this top of the table clash in Division Two.
In a tense opening, it was the visitors who were teasing and probing the home rearguard. Simon Newey had a long range effort well saved by the visiting custodian before a mix-up in defence presented Bingley Arms striker Rob Gibson the red carpet who finished in clinical fashion.
A much improved second-half perfomance the home side failed to reap any rewards against a well disciplined Bingley outfit. Wakefield keeper Tom Salter produced heroics in goal whilst the woodwork came to his sides rescue twice in a period of sustained pressure by the visitors.
Wakefield re-shuffled tactically and saw the Bingley keeper forced into an agile save from a Kevin Guy set-piece before Mike Bell hit the side netting from a golden opportunity.
The visitors held firm and hit the home side on the counter-break at the death with Ton Robinson side-footing home for a well-earned and deserved victory.
The Silver Jubilee man-of-th match award for Wakefield Athletic "A" was shared Tom Salter, Conor Henshaw and Tom Pick.
