Wakefield Athletic FC - About the Club

Dear All,

Some insight to share with you followings last Sunday’s fixtures.  Some of you will have noticed some hurried activity in the car park last Sunday morning at WYCO between Gary, Iso & myself.

We managed to get three games out of the way but all our preparations suffered as a result of the squad being heavily depleted on match day.

The first team had Lee Everett (work) and Sikander Ibrahim (facial injury) missing.  The "A" Team had no less then nine players not available for a combination of reasons as follows: Jim Hardisty (holiday), Matt Fenlon (holiday), Chris Riley (work), Phil McNulty (child care), Steve Draper (poorly on the morning of the game), Kevin Guy (family emergency on the morning of the match), David Markwell (no show), Darren Barnes (no show), Oliver Bartholomew (no show) and stand-in goalkeeper Tony Dyer (no show).

The "B" Team had four players not available.  Ismael Dibagh (work), Gary Kilbride (no show), Daniel Hughes (no show) and Seb Szreniawski (neck injury).

This is the overall situation the management were dealing within the limited time frame we had last Sunday.  The "A" were forced to play defender Matt Killey in goal, Bruce McIntosh played his first game in five months following a knee injury with Alex Varley & Richard Brown helping out from the "B" Team.  We won, just, but what a struggle it was.

The "B" Team saw Manager Gary Kidd forced to play to make the eleventh men.  Credit to all the players for conducting themselves admirably and supporting the club in this adverse situation.  I do hope this unforeseen circumstances is not repeated.  Once again, thanks for your support.

Sal.
