Wakefield Athletic ..................................... 6
Altofts .................................................... 4

Striker Scott Everett hit a fine hat-trick for victorious Wakefield Athletic in this ten goal thriller against Altofts in the Landlords Trophy tie.

This tie produced a ding-dong affair with both sides in an attacking frame of mindset.  Altofts took a shock lead with a 20 yard screamer through Adam Swift before a David Bartholomew flick-on saw Scott Everett pounce to equalise.

Altofts regained the lead when a defence splitting pass from Ryan Whittam was well read by Sean Teasdale who made it 2-1.  The home side hauled themselves level for the second time in the match with some good work by Craig Smith ending with a well-judged lob by Scott Everett for his brace.

A flowing move between Danny Barnes, Sikander Ibrahim and Luke Crossley set-up Scott Everett to complete his well deserved first-half hat-trick with a low drive from close-range to make it 3-2 at half-time.

On the turn, Altofts started strongly and forced the rearguard of Ben Palmer, Shazad Fiaz and Warren Saxton into overtime before a set-piece goal from Warren Saxton and a close-range thunder-bolt from the hard working Craig Smith made it 5-2 to Wakefield.

The visitors retaliated with a 30 yard screamer of an effort from Ryan Whittam gave them a fight back chance before another fluid move from Wakefield saw then score through Andrew Whelan to make it 6-3.  Adam Swift hit a late consolation for Altofts with a fine shot from close-range for his brace.

The Express man-of-the match for Wakefield Athletic was shared by Scott Everett, Ben Palmer and Craig Smith.
