Leaders Shepherds Arms registered a double over depleted Wakefield Athletic in this Division One top of the table clash.

The home side made a positive start and forced the visitors on the back foot from the outset and took a deserved lead in the 10th minute when stand-in keeper Adam Deakin spilled a long-range effort from Oli Johnson over the line.

Shepherds Arms dominated the first period but failed to cash in on their glut of chances with the home side threatening to equalise with isolated chances.

Wakefield made positional changes on the turn and were on the ascendency before a comical goal credited to Chris Colly saw the home side double their lead.

The visitors went close through Warren Saxon and Craig Smith before the in-form home outfit secured a vital victory with a double from David Dempsey and an own goal.

Oli Johnson and David Dempsey were outstanding for the home side whilst the Express man-of-the match award for Wakefield Athletic was shared by Warren Saxon, Scott Everett and Craig Smith.
